Back when I used to do hotel SEO for the Hotel de Paris, one of the things that regularly came up in my competitive research was the importance of conference and convention hall facilities and networking in that field.
Why does having conference facilities help hotels with their SEO?
For the simple reason, that convention organizers typically have a website. One trusted by search engines at that.
And therefore when those convention organizers mention the location of their event, they typically link to the hotel hosting their show.
Furthermore, they’re often encouraging attendees to book a room at the hotel.
Search engines rank web pages in their search results based on the quality and quantity of links those pages have.
Guess what such a juicy endorsement tells Bing and Google?
“Rank this big, fancy hotel higher in the search results!”
Of course, there are solutions for smaller hotels to fight the rankings battle, too. Get my new posts by RSS or email and find out more when I publish parts 2 and 3 of this series.
