You don’t have to divvy up USD 200 to stay at the main hotel. Sure, stay in their bar until 2 am talking SEO, but save a few quid on a bed by shopping around.

In London, I usually stay about 5 minutes walk from the conference venue for about a third of the price, or 12 minutes walk from the venue for a fifth of the price.

Last year I got 4 nights for the equivalent of about USD 225 at the latter, and that included an all-you-can-eat breakfast.
